Chris Trodd is the co-founder of UK2You.com along with his wife Sarah.  Chris & Sarah moved to the Algarve from the UK in 2006 before moving to Lisbon in 2010.  The idea for the UK2You website sprang from their own need to get both everyday and obscure items sent from the UK ... these have included bed linen, drain rods, TV wall brackets, Christmas presents, school uniform, musical instruments and so on.  They have developed the website over the past twelve months with a view to providing a service for so called British “expats” who want to get hold of locally hard to source items and those who wish to have the choice, value and familiarity of shopping from the UK!  

 

How can UK2You help me?

 

At UK2You.com we have brought together UK retailers which specifically have overseas delivery options and we have listed them in one comprehensive Shopping Directory on our website.  By using UK2You.com, you can be assured that your purchases can be sent safely to where you live in Western Europe and, in many cases, worldwide.

 

Who can use UK2You?

 

UK2You.com is a freely accessible website for British “expats”, other overseas residents and even UK based shoppers.

 

UK2You.com provides the website as a service to people living away from the UK with regular updates about “what’s new” and “what’s of interest”.  

 

What will I find at UK2You?

 

We’ve tried to cover all areas of the UK High Street from major department stores to smaller establishments you might find in small town high streets ... haberdashery supplies, ironmongery, specialist gift shops, pet supplies, etc.

 

In addition, we’ve sourced and highlighted services you will find useful if you are living overseas ... language learning materials, internet ‘phone services, computer supplies and so on.  It’s not just a shopping website, we hope you’ll find it a useful source of information too!

 

The site highlights offers, products and retailers that it is felt will be of interest to visitors to the UK2You website, specifically concentrating on saving money on everyday items, seasonal items and obtaining items that are hard to track down overseas PLUS those items which are specifically “British”.

 

How does UK2You keep me informed?

 

Visitors to the site can sign up to receive regular newsletters so they can be the first to know about what is new and of interest.  We have a regularly updated blog on the homepage of the website plus there is a UK2You FORUM where you can keep in touch with the UK2You community and get help finding hard to source items, give feedback about the site and get help & support with using the website.  

 

 

How is UK2You different to other “expat” sites?

 

We believe UK2You.com is DIFFERENT to other expat shopping websites in that we have carefully researched and “cherry-picked” only those retailers that we believe will be meaningful to those living overseas and only those that will deliver overseas and whose own websites are set up to take overseas orders.  Our aim is to save you time, money and disappointment by listing only those retailers that can provide overseas delivery.  As an example, if you have a printer attached to your computer ... it’s much cheaper to buy a new printer cartridge on line from the UK and have it sent to Portugal than it is to buy the same item in Portugal.  And if you are in to cycling, our sports category offers links to great savings.  These are just two examples, why not try us out and see how much you can save?!

 

What about future plans?

 

UK2You aims to provide a dedicated consolidated delivery service from the UK and is currently setting this additional service up with a national supplier.  This will mean that UK2You site members will be able to purchase a whole range of items and have them delivered to our preferred partners for onward delivery in one box, (the UK2You “one box” solution) thus reducing the overall cost of delivery and maximising the use of retailers cheap and free UK delivery offers.

 

UK2You also plan to detail UK companies that can provide help with moving cars, boats, bikes and household effects to and from the UK.

 

In the coming months UK2You will also increase the range and scope of the Shopping Directory to include overseas insurance companies, money transfer organisations and institutions that can provide valuable services to expat communities around the world.
